In season 1 of Bel-Air, the cast and crew had the mammoth task of creating a new series that would build on the legacy of the beloved 90s series, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. From the pilot, it was obvious to see creator Morgan Cooper and the talented cast set out to do so much more.
The genre change from sitcom to a gritty drama presented an interesting framework for Cooper to delve deeper into the characters we know and love. What resulted was a hit show for Peacock that brought fans new and old. Season 1 brought an updated recipe playing on what made Fresh Prince work: a charismatic lead (this time in Jabari Banks), the fashion, relatable storylines, and the undeniable chemistry between the Banks family.
Now, the cast is back for season 2 with new showrunner, writer, and executive producer Carla Banks-Waddles, paving an in depth look into the themes explored in season 1 and beyond. Awards Radar spoke with actors Jabari Banks (Will), Adrian Holmes (Phillip), Olly Sholotan (Carlton), and Jimmy Akingbola (Geoffrey) ahead of the February 23rd season premiere.
