James Mangold In Talks to Direct ‘Swamp Thing’ at DC

A day after James Gunn announced the first slate of upcoming films and television series for the DC Universe, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that James Mangold is in talks to direct an adaptation of Swamp Thing for DC Studios. It would be the third film adaptation of the Swamp Thing character after Wes Craven‘s 1982 adaptation and The Return of Swamp Thing. The character also had a show in 2019 which was canceled shortly after its premiere.

Mangold is in very early talks to direct the film, but the filmmaker has hinted at his involvement on a post via Twitter, which can be seen below:

Gunn described the film at being “dark and horrific,” leaning into the more horror side of the character, but no release date and actors have been announced for the movie.
