‘Emancipation’ To Release in December: First Trailer Released

The first trailer for Emancipation has been revealed, along with news that the film is now officially a 2022 release. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by William N. Collage, the movie stars Will Smith, Ben Foster, Steven Ogg, Charmaine Bingwa, Gilbert Owuor and Mustafa Shakir.

Its plot synopsis reads “An enslaved man embarks on a perilous journey to reunite with his family in this powerful film inspired by a true story.”

As rumored, the movie will be releasing in select theatres on December 2, before landing on Apple TV+ on December 9, just in time for Awards Season. Will the movie snag any awards, especially in the wake of controversy surrounding the Will Smith/Chris Rock slap? Time will tell.
