New Trailer for ‘TÁR’ Teases an Awards-Worthy Performance for Cate Blanchett

The latest trailer for Todd Field‘s TÁR has released online. Also written by Field, the movie stars Cate Blanchett, Noémie Merlant, Nina Hoss, Mark Strong, Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, and Allan Corduner.

Its plot synopsis reads “From writer/director Todd Field, starring Cate Blanchett, TÁR, set in the international world of classical music, centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.”

The movie received stellar reviews at film festivals, including from our editor-in-chief Joey Magidson who saw the movie at Telluride, and said that Blanchett’s special truly makes it special:

“Blanchett digs deep to create a layered portrayal of a difficult figure. Throw in learning to conduct, play the piano, and speak some German, and the level of commitment on display is something to behold. If Field was going to have to wait this long to make another flick, boy did he find the right actress to collaborate with.” You can read his full review of the movie here.

You can watch the trailer below and see the movie in select theatres on October 7:
