‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ to Release Theatrically in February 2023

The third film in the Magic Mike franchise will arrive in theaters on February 10th, 2023. Magic Mike’s Last Dance was originally set to debut directly on HBO Max. The change can be attributed to David Zaslav‘s new strategy for releasing content. The controversial technique relies on focusing on theatrical releases and moving away from streaming-only features.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also directed the first movie in the franchise, this entry will see Salma Hayek joining the story. The first film was loosely based on leading man Channing Tatum‘s experiences as a male stripper during the earlier days of his career. It went on to gross $167 million against a $7 million budget.

A sequel, titled Magic Mike XXL, was released in 2015. The second movie saw Mike (played again by Tatum) opening a furniture shop after quitting his job as a stripper. He decides to come back to end his career on a high note when his team, the Kings, ask him to come back and perform at the Myrtle Beach male stripper convention.

The sequel earned $122 million against a $15 million budget, proving the franchise as a valuable asset for Warner Bros. Pictures. A third film had been rumored for quite some time, until it was officially announced in November of last year. Gregory Jacobs, the director of the second film, returns as producer for Last Dance.
