Apple Acquires Jennifer Lawrence Film ‘Causeway’ from A24

It looks like Apple is hoping to get some Oscar attention again this year. After winning Best Picture last time around with CODA, the streamer is looking to score some more Academy Award love. Currently, Cha Cha Real Smooth is on Apple TV+ and one of their potential ponies, but they’ve just picked up another pretty juicy option, one that used to have a home at A24.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple is the new home for the long awaited Jennifer Lawrence film Causeway. Once upon a time, it was called Red, White and Water but now has a new title, along with a new distributor after A24 solid off to Apple. Directed by Lila Neugebauer, the movie follows a soldier (Lawrence) struggling to adjust to life after returning to her home in New Orleans. Alongside Lawrence, Brian Tyree Henry co-stars. Both presumably will be in the conversation later on this awards season when the film comes out. Until then, we have another contender to take note of. assuming the quality is there, of course.
