Daniel Kaluuya Confirms He Is Not in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

Daniel Kaluuya has confirmed to Rotten Tomatoes that he will not reprise his role as W’Kabi in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

In an interview with Jacqueline Coley, Kaluuya said that he did not return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to scheduling conflicts with Jordan Peele‘s Nope, which was shot at the same time as Ryan Coogler‘s film.

It’s worth noting that production on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever received multiple setbacks, with many cast members testing positive for COVID-19. The shoot was also suspended in November when actress Letitia Wright suffered an injury on set that required an extensive amount of recovery in January. It was also unclear if Wright was able to return to the United States, as the CDC required all non-immigrant and non-citizen air travelers to be vaccinated, and Wright was not and expressed anti-vaccine views on social media.

Eventually, Wright got vaccinated and was able to return to the set in January to film the rest of the movie. Wakanda Forever is still slated to release on November 11th, with the first trailer rumored to premiere during San Diego Comic-Con.
