Apple has come out as the highest bidder for Joseph Kosinski‘s untitled Formula One movie, which will star Brad Pitt in the lead role. The movie will be co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and Formula One athlete Lewis Hamilton.
According to Variety, Pitt will be playing “a driver who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie driver and the titans of the sport.” It will be written by one of Top Gun: Maverick‘s co-writers, Ehren Kruger.
The movie will be Apple’s second collaboration with Brad Pitt, as he is currently working on a movie with George Clooney and Jon Watts on “two lone-wolf fixers assigned to do the same job.”
No details on the production start are given, but Joseph Kosinski has had big success with the release of Top Gun: Maverick, after two years of pandemic delays. His next movie, Spiderhead, will release on Netflix on June 17th.
