Interview: Billy Magnussen on Relating to Pieces of Byron Gogol in ‘Made for Love’

HBO Max’s Made for Love returns for its second season with more of the Hub and its eccentric creator, the wealthy tech guru Byron Gogol. Billy Magnussen delivers a continuously fascinating performance as Gogol, a fictionalized exaggeration of what many might see real-life billionaires with their hands in the technology space turning into in the near future.

Awards Radar had the opportunity to speak with Magnussen about the chance to revisit and embellish the character, and what he can understand about Gogol’s worldview.

He shared his perspective on the show’s central themes:

Made for Love uses dark comedy and sci-fi as a great veil to talk about love and relationships. At the core of it, I think it is about two people trying to reconnect and save their marriage, with all the crazy shit and the sex doll that’s dating the dad. It’s all over the place, but at the core of it, it’s about human connection and human relation.”

Two new episodes of Made for Love premiere each Thursday on HBO Max.
