It was reported yesterday that Louis Leterrier is in talks to direct Fast X, though it is unclear if he will be helming both parts of the tenth film, or just the first one. According to Variety, Leterrier beat out numerous candidates for the job and became Universal Pictures’ first choice, having a rapport with the studio that ultimately made him the best candidate to direct the film.
Schedules are still being discussed, but Leterrier is no secret for car chase-driven action films, having directed films such as The Transporter (which he co-directed with Corey Yuen), Transporter 2, and Now You See Me, which contain numerous chase sequences.
He is also very familiar with blockbuster films, with productions such as The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans, and Unleashed. His latest film, The Takedown, a sequel to David Charhon’s On the Other Side of the Tracks, is releasing May 6th on Netflix.
