John Carney to Direct a Bee Gees Biopic Written By John Logan

If you love movies with good music in them, then you’re a John Carney fan. Carney has made a career making independent musical films, ranging from the Oscar-winning Once to Begin Again and Sing Street. Now, he’s finally been plucked to make a studios musical biopic. It was only a matter of time, and they seem to have chosen a strong one for him, as he’s been tapped to make the Bee Gees biopic.

According to an exclusive by Deadline, Carney has stepped in to helm the biopic, which is to be written by John Logan. Originally, Kenneth Branagh was set to direct, before Belfast became his priority. That choice certainly paid off for Branagh, as the movie won him an Oscar. Could this musical biopic end up doing the same for Carney and/or Logan? Only time will tell, but the potential certainly is there with this tale of the Bee Gees. If nothing else, we have a new John Carney project to look forward to.

He has conducted interviews with some of the best in the business - learning more about them, their projects and their crafts. He is a graduate of the RIT film program.
