In Apple TV+’s new limited series The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, based on the novel of the same name by Walter Mosley, Samuel L. Jackson stars as the title character, a man who has lost his memory and sense of place but may have a way to get it back. With the assistance of his new caregiver, Robyn (Dominique Fishback), Ptolemy transforms into a whole new man, one set on righting the wrongs of his past.
Awards Radar had the chance to speak with three talented performers who play the people closest to Ptolemy: Fishback, Marsha Stephanie Blake, who plays his niece Niecie, and Omar Benson Miller, who plays his grandnephew Reggie. In speaking about the appeal of the project and working with Jackson, we even got a surprise guest!
On Jackson’s professionalism, here’s what Blake had to say:
“Sam is a consummate professional, so you’ve got to come with your game when you’re working with Sam. You have to bring it because he’s going to bring it in every scene and every take…There was not one take where I felt like he checked out or anything like that. That, for me, as someone who learned a lot by watching other people, I really respected that.”
