Fede Alvarez to Direct ‘Alien’ Movie for Fox and Hulu

It was announced today that Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe filmmaker Fede Alvarez will be directing a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios. He will also be writing the script, while Ridley Scott will be executive producing.

The movie will be exclusively released on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, which will apparently be part of 20th Century Studios’ plan to make more than 10 movies on the streaming service, which was announced yesterday.

No further details on the Alien film were given, but it may be a reboot and/or a new spinoff on the popular franchise, after Alien: Covenant was met with mixed reviews and put any future plans on hold. A TV series on FX is also in development, which was announced at Disney’s Investor Day in 2020, with Noah Hawley executive producing.
