Interview: Stars Esther Povitsky & Shay Mitchell, Creator Jordan Weiss, and Showrunner Michelle Nader on Season 2 of ‘Dollface’

Hulu’s comedy series Dollface returns to Hulu for its second season after a more than two-year hiatus. Among the fantastic foursome as its center are Izzy (Esther Povitsky) and Stella (Shay Mitchell), who get to embark on new romances that take them into uncharted territory. Michelle Nader joins the behind-the-scenes team as showrunner, teaming with creator Jordan Weiss.

Awards Radar had the chance to speak to Povitsky and Mitchell about their character arcs and to Weiss and Nader about collaborating on a new season.

On the lengthy gap between season one and two, here’s what Povitsky and Weiss had to say:

Povitsky: “I almost feel like we’re the new Curb Your Enthusiasm. They go off the air for five years at a time. They come back when they want. That’s our energy, we’ll come back when we’re ready.”

Weiss: “I never felt Hulu’s support of the show waiver, which is such an amazing way to feel as a creator. They’re such awesome partners. It was challenging, and I have aged along with the characters in the show. They used to be older than me, and now they’re not. I was 22 when I wrote this pilot, and now I’m 29. This season is about turning 30. So here we go.”
