Michael Keaton Cast in ‘Batgirl’

In October, Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah teased that Batman would make an appearance in their HBO Max film. No one knew which Batman they were talking about, since Ben Affleck is reprising his role in The Flash, alongside an alternate Caped Crusader portrayed by Michael Keaton.

According to a new Warner Bros. cast list, Keaton has officially been cast as the Batman Adil & Bilal were talking about. He will be joining Leslie Grace as the titular character, J.K. Simmons as James Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and Jacob Scipio in an undisclosed role. The screenplay has been written by Birds of Prey and The Flash screenwriter Christina Hodson.

It doesn’t seem like Marvel Studios is the only studio currently developing films and TV series based on the multiverse, and the lucrative success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, featuring characters from the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb films will surely make DC envious and finally adapt Flashpoint to film. This could have the potential to change everything about the DC Extended Universe, and Michael Keaton’s inclusion in Batgirl will surely entice fans of the character who have been aching for his grand return. With the multiverse, everything is possible.
