Christopher Nolan is rounding up his cast for his next film, Oppenheimer, which already stars Cillian Murphy as the titular character, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves, Emily Blunt as Katherine Oppenheimer, and Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss. Now, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek and Benny Safdie will be joining the cast, in what’s shaping up to be one of Nolan’s most star-studded projects yet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pugh will be playing Jean Tatlock, a member of the Communist Party of the United States who has an affair with Oppenheimer, Safdie will be portraying Edward Teller, a member of the Manhattan Project, who helped the United States develop the first atomic bomb, while Malek will be playing a scientist, with no further details on who this scientist is.
The film is gearing up to start shooting sometime in 2022, with a July 21, 2023 release date exclusively in theatres.
