Fifteen years after the release of Little Children, Todd Field returns to the big screen with TÁR, which will release in the upcoming year from Focus Features, who announced the film through a press release.
Cate Blanchett will be leading the film, from a screenplay by Field. Nina Hoss, Noémie Merlant, Mark Strong, and Julian Glover will co-star. According to Focus Features, the film is “set in the international world of classical music, centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.”
It’s worth noting that the film’s score will be composed by Academy Award winner Hildur Guðnadóttir, who was the first woman to win an Oscar for her score of Todd Phillips‘ Joker.
TÁR will be released exclusively in theatres on October 7, 2022.
