Following four films and a mildly successful 2016 television reboot, Lethal Weapon is yet again returning to the public eye. Mel Gibson, the controversial star of the film series, is set to direct the film.
After a 23 year hiatus, the franchise will continue under Gibson’s direction as revealed in The Sun at a press event in London. His return to the franchise will also see him star in the film and take over the directing duties from legend, Richard Donner, who passed away in July.
Little is known about the screenplay or casting for the upcoming sequel, but it is said to be “pretty far along” according to Gibson.
