This Wednesday morning, Disney and Pixar released the teaser trailer and poster for their upcoming film, Lightyear. The film is set to be released on June 17, 2022.
This new sci-fi action/adventure from Pixar follows the origins of Buzz Lightyear, voiced this time by Chris Evans, the man who inspired the toy and many generations of fans with his heroism. The film is helmed by director Angus MacLane, who previously co-directed Finding Dory.
Evans calls his work on the film “a dream come true…Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”
The trailer gives the audience amazing visuals to feast off of, demonstrating its sci-fi epic chops, and features the iconic song Starman by David Bowie to bring together an amazing teaser. The teaser poster shows off the style of Buzz’s suit as well as the quality of Pixar’s animation, All in all, after viewing the trailer and seeing the poster, it’s going to be a long and very anticipatory wait until the film’s release next June.
