Although Kenneth Branagh‘s black-and-white coming-of-age comedy-drama film Belfast has yet to be released to the public, it’s already getting widespread attention online, mainly from critics who praised the film after viewing it at the Telluride Film Festival on September 2nd (and Joey out of TIFF here).
However, that’s not stopping the studio from pushing it heavily for Academy Awards consideration for next year. According to Variety, Focus Features will be campaigning Jude Hill for Best Actor in a Leading Role, while Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds, and Judi Dench will be pushed for the supporting category.
This, however, does not confirm that they will end up receiving these nominations, rather, the studio is making a push for them all to get them. Whether or not that will actually end up being the case is yet to be seen.
Belfast is scheduled to be released in theatres by Focus Features on November 12, 2021.
