R.J. Cutler To Receive Pennebaker Award At The Sixth Annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced that this years recipient of the Pennebaker Award will be Acclaimed Documentarian R.J. Cutler.

The award, previously called the Critics Choice Lifetime Achievement Award, is awarded every year to a documentarian for their entire body of work and was named after D.A. Pennebaker, famous documentarian and former recipient of this award, after his passing in 2019. The award will be presented to Cutler by Pennebaker’s producing partner and wife, Chris Hegedus.

R.J. Cutler is an award-winning, acclaimed documentary filmmaker, responsible for some of the most acclaimed documentaries of the last 30 years. His documentaries include works like Belushi, The War Room, The September Issue, The World According To Dick Cheney, Listen To Me Marlon, and most recently, Billie Eilish: The Worl’ds A Little Blurry. Cutler actually began his career as a documentarian working as a producer for D.A. Pennebaker.

The Sixth Annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards takes place on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at BRIC in Brooklyn, New York.
