First Trailer Gives Taste of Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Licorice Pizza’

MGM

The official trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, Licorice Pizza, dropped Monday morning. Anderson returns to the 70s for this upcoming venture, a decade previously tackled by the famed writer/director. The film is set to hit theaters later this fall.

The film follows a high-school student (Cooper Hoffman, the son of late actor and frequent Anderson collaborator Philip Seymour Hoffman) who also happens to be a child-actor.

The film also stars Alana Haim, of the band HAIM, Bradley Cooper, Tom Waits, and Sean Penn.

The trailer, set to David Bowie’s Life on Mars, shows Anderson’s signature style with a familiar look of the 70s San Fernando Valley, as previously depicted in his film Boogie Nights, with a newer twist. Packed with charm and wit, this is surely to be a coming of age film to remember, and potentially an awards player as well.
