It feels like it’s been quite a long time since audiences have seen a black-and-white movie (perhaps Roma) but now, they can expect to be taken on a journey set in 1920s New York in a new film called Passing.
Written and directed by Rebecca Hall and starring Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga, André Holland, Alexander Skarsgård, and Bill Camp, Passing follows two mixed-race childhood friends who reunite in middle-class adulthood and become increasingly involved with one another’s lives and insecurities. While Irene identifies as African-American and is married to a black doctor, Clare “passes” as white and has married a prejudiced, but wealthy white man.

Passing is scheduled to be released by Netflix on October 27, 2021.
