‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Mission Impossible 7’ Delayed Due To COVID-19

Veteran actor Tom Cruise was set to have quite a big conversation about him due to his upcoming release schedule. This November, the actor was scheduled to reprise his role as Peter “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to the hit 80s film.

Then, towards the end of May 2022, audiences expected to see him back in action as Ethan Hunt once again in Mission Impossible 7, directed by his now long-time collaborator Christopher McQuarrie.

Sadly, it seems as though we will have to wait a little while longer to see Cruise reprise two of his most iconic roles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both of his upcoming films have been delayed due to concerns regarding COVID-19.

Top Gun: Maverick was initially scheduled for release on November 19, 2021, and has since been pushed to May 27, 2022, while Mission Impossible 7 has set its sights on a September 30, 2022 release date after initially scheduled to release on May 27.
