After a huge year for the BFI London Film Festival in 2020 that showed films such as Nomadland, One Night in Miami and Soul, the opening film for the 2021 festival has been revealed as the world premiere of the Netflix black western The Harder They Fall.
Directed by Jeymes Samuel, the film has a massive cast list that includes Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Regina King and Idris Elba. The synopsis of the film is as follows: when an outlaw discovers his enemy is being released from prison, he reunites his gang to seek revenge in this Western.
The film will receive its world premiere on Wednesday 6th October at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. After the positive feedback from last year’s festival, BFI is also continuing to show a range of their films across cinemas in the UK, something that The Harder They Fall will do.
The 65th BFI London Film Festival will take place between the 6th-17th October. After its festival premiere, The Harder They Fall will officially release on November 3rd.
