Chances are, if you are a major film fan in any way, you have probably heard of acclaimed filmmaker Richard Donner. If his name doesn’t ring a bell with you, then at least the title of his films certainly will.
Donner was behind some of the most iconic films ever created such as the original Superman film starring Christopher Reeve, X-Men, The Goonies, and the long-running Lethal Weapon series starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.
Not only that, but Donner was also well-versed in the television community as well, directing episodes of shows such as The Twilight Zone, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Gilligan’s Island, and Perry Mason.
Unfortunately, we have learned today that Richard Donner has passed away today at the age of ninety-one. The news was broken by Donner’s wife and producer Lauren Shuler Donner, but no cause of death or details regarding the circumstances of his death have been released as of right now.
Although the iconic filmmaker is no longer with us, his films and his legacy will certainly live on in the hearts of millions of movie fans all around the world.
