Zack Snyder fans are getting their fill in 2021.
With the Snyder Cut of Justice League still fresh in everyone’s minds, Netflix has dropped the trailer today for the director’s next project, the zombie heist thriller Army of the Dead.
The brief official synopsis for the film describes it as a group of mercenaries heading into a quarantine zone during a zombie apocalypse to run a heist on Vegas.
That alone should be more than enough to get most people on board. Another exciting facet in play with Army is that it marks Snyder’s return to the zombie genre, almost 20 years since he made his directing debut with his 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, still regarded as one of his best films (even Snyder detractors give it credit and consider it his best).
Snyder’s first non-superhero film in a decade, plenty of people are eagerly waiting to see what he’s come up with for Army of the Dead. The film stars Dave Bautista (who reportedly turned down a role in The Suicide Squad for this), Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, and Matthias Schweighöfer.
Netflix is so confident in the film that they’ve already finished shooting on a prequel centered around Schweighöfer’s character, which the actor also directed, and they’ve also got an animated series coming focused on some of the same characters.
Do you want to see a lot of the Army of the Dead universe on your screens? Get your look at the trailer below, and see the film when it starts streaming on Netflix on May 21st.
