The Costume Designers Guild handed out their 2021 awards for film and television on Tuesday night, where all of the Oscar nominated films for Costume Design were up for awards.
So, who took home prizes? Of the five Oscar nominees, both Mulan and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won from the guild awards, in the categories of Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film and Excellence in Period Film, respectively.
The other film winner came from a picture not nominated for the Oscar, Nancy Steiner for her work in Promising Young Woman in the Contemporary Film category.
How are things looking for the Oscar in just a couple of short weeks? Well, prognosticators seem to have the category locked up as one of several wins for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottomon Oscar night, and it’s looking more and more difficult to disagree.
