DGA Lineup Includes Lee Isaac Chung and Emerald Fennell!

The Directors Guild of America released their feature film nominees moments ago, potentially giving us some major insight into the Best Director field at the Oscars. There isn’t always complete crossover between the DGA five and the Oscar five, but four usually is a pretty safe bet. This year, it looks like the DGA nominated three very safe Academy Award candidates, along with boosting two other Director hopefuls. Getting expected taps were David Fincher (Mank), Aaron Sorkin (The Trial of the Chicago 7) and Chloé Zhao (Nomadland). Joining that trio are Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman). Snubs here included Regina King (who instead received a First Time citation) and Spike Lee. The group opted not to double-dip Fennell in the First Time category as well, but this is a huge get for her. Will it translate with the Academy? How about for Chung? Will there be an Oscar morning snub? Stay tuned to find out…
