Ryan Gosling is ‘The Actor’

Ryan Gosling has signed up for his next big role, with the Oscar-nominated actor set to star in, well, The ActorDeadline reports.

The film, based on a Donald E. Westlake novel titled Memory, is a neo-noir thriller about a man named Paul Cole, who has been left for dead in 1950s Ohio. With no memory, Cole has to solve the mystery not only of what happened to him, but how to put all of the pieces back together moving forward.

It’s an exciting premise, with an interesting name attached to direct. Duke Johnson will be making his solo directing debut with the film, after having co-directed the animated feature Anomalisa with Charlie Kaufman in 2015. Johnson co-wrote the script for The Actor with Stephen Cooney

Gosling is quite the selective actor these days, making it a treat whenever we get to see him on screen. We last saw him reuniting with Damien Chazelle in 2018 for First Man, and he’s about to start shooting The Gray Man for Netflix opposite Chris Evans. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the steamer is hoping for that to be the launch of a major new franchise.
