The Nevada Film Critics Society have announced their winners and it’s a very big day for Promising Young Woman, as Emerald Fennell’s drama swept the main categories, winning Picture, Director, Screenplay, and Actress for star Carey Mulligan.
The other contenders were left looking for categories where Promising Young Woman wasn’t competing, which led to some interesting selections, including the first critics’ win for Glenn Close for her supporting performance in Hillbilly Elegy. After Close showed up at all of the major precursors, people have been wondering if she’s got what it takes to finally bring home the Oscar, and here’s an indication that even the critics are appreciating her performance.
