HBO Drops Teaser for Kate Winslet in ‘Mare of Easttown’

Are you missing the feeling of a dreary HBO crime limited series? How about getting to watch Academy Award and Emmy winner Kate Winslet investing deep in a performance that’ll knock your socks off? Well, you’re in luck!

HBO has just released the trailer for their upcoming seven-episode series Mare of Easttown, a small town crime drama set in Pennsylvania. Winslet stars as Mare Sheehan, a detective probing this tight knit community to expose their deepest secrets and solve a murder, calling to mind series like Broadchurch and True Detective

The series was created by Brad Ingelsby, the writer of recents films like The Way Back and Our Friend. Ingelsby wrote all seven episodes. The Way Back director Gavin O’Connorwas originally set to direct every episode of the series, but he had to step away before shooting. He was replaced by Craig Zobel (The Hunt, many episodes of HBO’s The Leftovers), who directed all seven episodes and executive produced the series. O’Connor and Winslet also executive produced the series, marking Winslet’s first producing credit in her career.

Joining Winslet in the series is a packed roster of talented stars, including Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Evan Peters, Angourie Rice, and Guy Pearce. Pearce previously hit the award circuit with Winslet for their previous HBO miniseries, 2011’s Mildred Pierce, where they scooped up plenty of prizes, including Emmy wins for both actors.

Mare of Easttown airs April 18th, 2021 on HBO and HBO Max. See the first trailer below:
