Rosamund Pike is still looking for her next project to hit big after her career boost from her Oscar nomination for her 2014 film Gone Girl. She seems to be on people’s early radar every year for films like A United Kingdom, Hostiles, A Private War, and Radioactive, but none of them have yet been able to strike the right chord to get her back in the awards race.
Her latest hopeful is the Netflix release I Care A Lot, a dark comedy that has been getting very positive responses critically since its debut at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Releasing on February 19th, 2021, we’ve got our first look at the film’s trailer.
Directed by J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed, The 5th Wave), the film tells the story of Marla Grayson (Pike), a con woman who uses her job as a professional guardian for the elderly to seize their assets and make off with a big profit for herself. Things get tricky for Marla when her latest mark (two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest) ends up having some shady connections of her own. The film co-stars Peter Dinklage as a violent gangster, Eiza González as Marla’s business partner and lover, along with Chris Messina, Macon Blair, Alicia Witt, Damian Young, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
