Interview: Jon Hamm Chats About Baseball, Choosing Projects, and ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’

Whether you love him on film or on television, Jon Hamm is a hell of an actor. Of course, his TV work in Mad Men won him an Emmy, as well as two Golden Globes. On the big screen, roles in acclaimed fare like Baby Driver, Bridesmaids, and The Town showcase his terrific range. Throw in Bad Times at the El Royale, The Report, and Richard Jewell, among others, and you have a man who can do just about anything. Go figure, that includes getting on the phone yesterday morning with me to have a really fun conversation. So, an interview with him was always going to be a good time, and this was no exception. He was available to promote his supporting role in the romantic comedy Wild Mountain Thyme (which stars Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan), but was up for discussing everything. As you might imagine, I took him up on that.

You can listen to my interview with Jon Hamm below. We get into what attracted him to Wild Mountain Thyme, of course, but that’s not all. Knowing how much he loves sports and his St. Louis franchises, I couldn’t help but get into that a bit too. Notably, his Cardinals once denied my Mets a trip to the World Series in a classic game, so I had to bring it up. Luckily, Hamm was more than willing to talk sports. We hit on what he looks for in projects, how he kept busy in quarantine, and much more. He’s a hell of a charming actor, as well as a genuinely nice guy. It made for a wonderful discussion. Listen now and you’ll understand why…

Here now is my chat with Jon Hamm. It’s a good one. Enjoy:

You can see Jon Hamm in Wild Mountain Thyme, available to watch today!
