Marvel’s most foul-mouthed superhero is coming back for a third installment. Deadline reports that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, best known for Bob’s Burgers,have been tapped to write Deadpool 3.
The first Deadpool movie was released by 20th Century Fox in 2016 and earned a tremendous box office haul in addition to Golden Globe nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and star Ryan Reynolds’ lead performance. Deadpool 2, which debuted in 2018 and made even more money, netting a few Critics Choice Association mentions in the action and comedy categories.
Following the acquisition of Fox by Disney, this new Deadpool film will officially be produced by Marvel Studios. There are still plenty of questions about who will be involved in the third installment with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch currently booked through the end of 2021. But with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Reynolds, and now the Molyneux sisters on board, this project is now definitely in development.
Bob’s Burgers has earned an Emmy nomination for Best Animated Program every year since 2012, winning in 2014 and 2017. The Molyneux sisters, who created the upcoming Fox animated series The Great North, scheduled to premiere in February, have also been cited several times by the Writers Guild of America for their work on Bob’s Burgers.
