Netflix Releases a Trailer for ‘Pieces of a Woman’

The rest of the world now finally gets a taste of the movie and performances that set the Venice Film Festival on fire earlier this year, as the trailer for Kornél Mundruczó’s Pieces of a Woman has finally dropped.

The film, which won the Best Film and Best Actress prizes at Venice, as well as having been nominated for Best Canadian Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival, stars Vanessa Kirby as a woman who must learn to cope with the grief of having lost her baby during childbirth. Kirby has garnered universal raves by every critic who has seen the film, and the Oscar buzz for her performance continues to build, as does the excitement for her co-stars, Shia LaBeouf and Ellen Burstyn, who, at 88, would be the oldest person ever to be nominated for an Oscar if she were to land a nod from the Academy.

Kirby, who shot to fame as Princess Margaret in the first two seasons of Netflix’s hit series, The Crown, won the Best Actress prize at Venice for Pieces of a Woman and is widely considered a leading contender in the Oscar race.

Pieces of a Woman will be in select theatres beginning December 30 and on Netflix January 7, 2021
