Joey’s Home Movies For the Week of November 2nd – ‘V for Vendetta’ in 4K

Welcome back to my Home Movies! Today, it’s Election Day, so be sure to go vote. Besides that (and really, that’s all that matters today), a timely 4K release is hitting in V for Vendetta. Plus, we also have the documentary Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President among this week’s options. It’s a good slate, that’s for sure, if a smaller one than usual. Read on for more, and then go vote. Or, vote before you read. Ideally do both, but one is decidedly more important than the other…

Joey’s Top Pick

V for Vendetta (on 4K)

Warner Bros.

What timing, right? Hitting shelves on Election Day is V for Vendetta, for the first time in 4K. One of the rare political action blockbusters, this science-fiction parable has only become more relevant since its release. At the time it was hailed as something that could one day become a classic, and lo and behold, it sure seems to have become one. Plus, it’s hard to argue that this doesn’t look great in 4K. V for Vendetta would be a timely watch at any point in 2020, but this week, and especially today? Wow. Frankly, it’s a must watch, for a multitude of reasons. Remember, remember, the fifth of November…

Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President

Greenwich Entertainment

One of our earliest reviews here at Awards Radar, Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President is one of the year’s best documentaries. Here is a bit from our rave review of the doc, in case you need more convincing:

Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President is not just a tribute to Carter’s love of music, but an ode to back when the U.S. used soft power to lead the world. The movie shows how the man built bonds and friendships through music and musicians. At a time where we seem as divided as ever, watching these bridges being built is actually rather dynamic. Plus, the doc has a hell of a lot of good music within it, and that never hurts, either.”
