Oscar winner Adam McKay’s next comedy, Don’t Look Up, already had an impressive cast lined up, including Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Rob Morgan, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothee Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley. But Netflix today announced the addition of Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio, according to The Hollywood Reporter. DiCaprio had, up until now, been one of the few major stars who had yet to work with the streaming giant.
The impressive cast continues Netflix’s commitment to creating content with top tier talent. The company’s talent-rich ensemble project, The Trial of the Chicago 7, premieres on the streaming service this Friday.
Don’t Look Up, directed and written by McKay, will star Lawrence and DiCaprio as two low-level scientists who try to warn the world that a meteor will be striking the earth in six months, but nobody believes them.
Production on Don’t Look Up is scheduled to begin on November 19 in Boston, produced by McKay and Kevin Messick, for McKay’s production company, Hyperobject.
