20th Century Studios celebrated National Coming Out Day by debuting the trailer for the musical drama Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, from first-time director Jonathan Butterell, which is set to be released in theaters on February 26, 2021.
Based on the 2017 British musical which was inspired by the 2011 BBC documentary, Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is the story of a 16-year-old who dreams of being a drag queen, despite all the obstacles in his way. Fighting back prejudice, bullies and an unforgiving small town, he finds the courage it takes to follow his dreams and live his life openly and honestly.
Reminiscent of the uplifting “be who you are” film and musical Billy Elliott, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie looks to be a soaring testament to knowing yourself and having the confidence to pursue your dreams, no matter the cost. Starring Max Harwood in his feature film debut and featuring Richard E. Grant, Sharon Horgan, Lauren Patel, and Sarah Lancashire, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie looks to be just the kind of inspiring movie we all need right now.
