This has been a discussion that has been ongoing since Spike Lee’s latest film, Da 5 Bloods was released on Netflix, June 12th, 2020, whether Delroy Lindo will be campaigned as lead, or as supporting come this awards season. Well, the time has finally come, and Netflix has made their decision… Delroy Lindo will be going LEAD in this years Academy Awards.
Both arguments are valid, as some say that the film is more about the ensemble, but others would argue that it’s really his story, plus, he has the most screen time. Now assuming Lindo gets in here, it would mark his first Oscar nomination. He’d be going up against past winners and nominees, like Gary Oldman, Mank, Anthony Hopkins, The Father, and many more. So now that we know Netflix is pushing him for Lead, it will be interesting to see who the competition will end up being. Because Netflix will also have Oldman, and most likely, someone from The Trial of the Chicago 7. We’ll find out sooner than later who it ends up being.

In Da 5 Bloods, Four African American vets battle the forces of man and nature when they return to Vietnam seeking the remains of their fallen squad leader and the gold fortune he helped them hide (IMDb).
Check out our predictions, and see where Lindo sits in the Best Actor race!
