Netflix Has Purchased Vanessa Kirby’s Venice Winner, ‘Pieces of a Woman’

Netflix has picked up yet another film this season, Kornél Mundruczó’s, Pieces of a Woman.

The film stars Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf. Kirby plays a grieving woman who embarks on an emotional journey after the loss of her baby. It came at the price of what is said to be $10M, but seems to be worth it. Not only did it receive incredible reviews, but Kirby just took home the Best Actress Volpi Cup at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Past winners of the award have gone on to win Best Actress at the Oscars, most recently, Olivia Colman for The Favourite.

Kirby made her mark by starring in The Crown, which earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Since then, she starred in two action blockbusters, Mission Impossible: Fallout, and Hobbs & Shaw.
