‘The X-Files’ Reboot Sets Danielle Deadwyler as Star and Ryan Coogler as the Pilot’s Writer/Director

The reboot of The X-Files has taken a major step forward. We already knew that this was a passion project for Ryan Coogler, and he continues to be involved, though now we also have a co-lead who has been cast for the Hulu revival. More below.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danielle Deadwyler has been cast as one of the leads, while Coogler is officially writing and directing the pilot. Another lead needs to be cast, which would give the show its own Mulder and Skully. That co-lead should come soon. In the meantime, this is the official synopsis for the show:

 “Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
