Interview: ‘The Chronology of Water’ Star Imogen Poots Chats About Acting and Working with Kristen Stewart

I’m always intrigued when I see that Imogen Poots is a part of a film. Early on, I clocked her work, even in 28 Weeks Later, though it was Solitary Man that really established her as someone to watch out for. However, it’s The Chronology of Water, where she’s the lead of Kristen Stewart‘s filmmaking debut, where she really just blew me away. Her performance in the movie is one of 2025’s best turns, absolutely shattering you. So, when the opportunity to speak with both of them came up, initially paired together, I was an eager beaver. We wound up splitting the conversations up, which gave me more time with both Poots and Stewart. It was a good thing too, as both discussions are top notch. You’ll see the K-Stew chat early on next week, but today, I’m thrilled to share with you all my talk with Poots.

In my review of the film here, I said the following about Poots’ work:

Imogen Poots is outstanding here, turning in captivating work within very challenging material. Watching Poots, through the character, attempt to make Lidia whole through sex, swimming, and everything in between is never anything less than hypnotic. What Poots and Stewart have Lidia go through isn’t always easy to watch, though you’re rewarded for being able to handle it. Stunning, truly.

Below, you can see my chat with Poots. We had a great time before, during, and after the recording, laughing, exchanging stories, and generally having fun. Obviously, the film is heavy and a tough watch, though she breaks it down in a very enjoyable manner. We talk about her relationship working with Stewart, her career, and other movies, too. I had a blast with her, which only speaks more to her talents, considering how devastating she is in the flick. The Chronology of Water is in theaters now, so definitely go check it out. She gives a stunning performance, plain and simple.
