U.K. Film Critics Association Gives Film of the Year to ‘Sinners’

The U.K. Film Critics Association has revealed their 2025 awards, with Sinners taking the top prize. One Battle After Another took Best Director, while Hamnet was the other movie to win a prize. The full results are below:

Huh. What an odd choice for a U.K.-based critic’s organization. Not that Sinners is a bad winner, necessarily, but it’s so uniquely American in its milieu, attitude, and storytelling that I wouldn’t have pegged it as something that would have appealed to critics from across the pond.
