Interview: Yul Vazquez on the Allure of Playing Petey on ‘Severance’

One of this season’s breakout hits has been the mind-bending drama Severance. Though no longer on the core team when the show begins, Petey (Yul Vazquez) plays an important role in bridging the severed worlds and helping to show Mark (Adam Scott) the dangerous effects of keeping pieces of your life separate.

Awards Radar had the chance to speak with Vazquez about what drew him to the show, highlights from his very respectable and storied career, and how he feels about watching his own work.

But don’t ask him to explain what’s going on on Severance. Responding to whether he gets it all, Vazquez said:

“I don’t think anyone really does. There are best guesses, and the way I got through it was going piece by piece. I knew the pieces I needed. I knew where I was starting and where I was ending, so I almost had an advantage in a way because I knew what my endpoint was.”

Season one of Severance is streaming on Apple TV+.
